How To Be A Driving School Teacher

A driving school teacher is a teacher in charge of teaching road safety to people who want to get their driver’s license. This is a task that can be exciting for many and a good future job opportunity for unemployed people.

We also know that you are a motor lover, that you drive very well and that you have taught many people to drive clandestinely before they got their licences. For this reason, you believe that being a driving school teacher is undoubtedly the job of your dreams since there are many people who want to learn to drive.

Being a driving school teacher has many good things, first of all, it is a job opportunity that is always there, since in Spain the automobile industry has not been diminished by the crisis and therefore, there will always be driving schools for many any crisis, since Spain is the country of drivers without any doubt.

It is also a well-paid profession, comfortable to carry out and that will allow you to transmit your knowledge to other people, something that many people like to do because it is very nice to teach what you already know to other people who do not know it yet.

The bad thing is that being a driving school teacher is not as easy as it seems, since it requires the completion of some training and good driving skills, however, let’s say that it is the teaching branch that is easier to access, since it does not ask for too many requirements if we compare it with a high school or college teacher.

What do you need to be a driving school teacher?

• Driving license B at least 2 years old.
• Graduated in ESO.

Instructions to be a driving school teacher

1. Pass the theoretical exam: A driving school teacher has to know a lot about road safety, knowing completely by heart everything that happens on the road and all the laws that apply to it. Therefore, before he can be a driving teacher, he must prove that he knows a lot about this knowledge with a theoretical exam. This exam is not like the exam you passed to get your B license, but obviously it is much more complicated, so study the entire road safety manual for that year well, since you must know it almost by heart to pass this exam. Once you have passed this exam, you can move on to the next step, that is, the practical exam.
2. Pass the practical exam: A driving school teacher is not only capable of giving theoretical classes to students, but is also capable of giving practical driving classes, therefore, they must be an expert behind the wheel. Once you pass the theory, you will have a practical exam in which you will drive for half an hour around the city demonstrating your knowledge. This knowledge must be more advanced than what you would have if you passed the license, so you must be very skilled and apt to drive, apart from obviously knowing all the road safety laws by heart and fully respecting them, not being allowed nor minor faults.
3. Pass the training period remotely and then face-to-face: Once you have passed both exams, you can start preparing to be a driving school teacher, something you will do in two parts, one part remotely and the other part face-to-face. First we go with the distance training, a training in which you will learn some basic concepts such as first aid, advanced vehicle mechanics, road safety and, in short, everything a good driving school teacher should know. Once you have approved this training, you would only have the face-to-face training, which lasts approximately 10 weeks and in which you will learn everything you have learned in distance training, but put into practice.  That is, here you are going to put first aid into practice, the mechanical part and the driving part to the limit. Once you have it ready, we are going to move on to the last part, which is a final knowledge exam. Once you have it ready, you will be a driving school teacher.
4. Get a job: Once you are officially a driving school teacher, it is time to start living from it and start earning money. Check out your resume at the nearest driving schools, something that is the easiest option to find a job. However, if you want to earn real money, setting up your own driving school is the best option, something you can do if you have some money to invest in a local and driving school cars. An expensive option, but it is the one that will give you the most money in the long term, especially if you do it in a neighborhood or municipality where there is no driving school yet, but there are a lot of young people willing to get their driver’s license.
