As we know, all Spaniards who drive a vehicle have a driving license for points that when they commit an infraction, they are withdrawn. The General Directorate of Traffic has a web page that allows you to check the number of points you have on your driving license. To do this you must follow a series of steps that we will explain below. Do not miss it!
Instructions to know how many points I have on my driver’s license
- The first thing we are going to do is enter our preferred browser, which can be Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc. In our navigation bar we place the web address of the ” General Directorate of Traffic“, which is: www.dgt.es
- There we will find the main page of the DGT, where we will have to go to the bottom of the web, in the section that says “permission by points“.
- Then, a new window will open, where a list appears with all the procedures that we can carry out, among them “consultation of points“, and we click on that option.
- In the new window we will see that there are two options, one for querying points with a certificate and the other without a certificate. We will click where it says ” Check balance of points (without certificate)“. This is a much faster and less cumbersome way than if we do it with a certificate.
- Next, a new window will appear where we must enter our NIF / NIE and Password. If you already have a password, you can go to the main page of the Directorate General of Traffic and enter your NIF and your password directly. Otherwise you will have to click on “consult password (user registration)”.
- You must have your driving license on hand because in the next step you must enter the date of issue.
- Then a new window will open where we must enter a series of data such as: name, surname, NIF / NIE, date of issue of the driver’s license, telephone and email.
- Once we click “accept“, a new window will appear informing us that we will receive an email with the new password.
- Now yes, when we enter our NIF and our password on the access screen we can enter our session to see how many points we have. Only that the first time we enter, we must change the password to one that we easily remember. Once this is done, we can enter as many times as we want to see our points and all our personal information. With this key we can carry out all the procedures related to our driving license on the website of the General Directorate of Traffic(DGT).
